Introduction to CiCP
We are a fellowship of Christians from all denominations concerned with
vision, challenge and encouragement in the practical aspects of expressing
our Christian faith within a professional context.
We are committed to exercising a prophetic role in present day society
where medical, moral and ethical standards are constantly under threat
of erosion.
We feel that God has prompted us to listen to the beat of His heart
and to speak His mind, whether it be in constructive criticism of the system,
or in active energising of those who are sick, down-trodden or broken-hearted
and of those who work amongst them. Our members are primarily those working
in the caring professions in hospital and community services, e.g. doctors,
nurses, professions associated with medicine, social workers, probation
officers. But we also include teachers, pastors and ministers and others.
Students are particularly welcome.
Vision of CiCP
Our vision is to see a new dimension appearing in our caring and healing
ministries through the power of the Holy Spirit, as we live and speak as
a prophetic people of God within the context of our daily professional
lives.
Aims
of CiCP
-
To encourage and challenge all Christians working in personal care both
within and outside the NHS or Social services, to live for Jesus Christ
-
To witness to the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to be led and
empowered by the Holy Spirit in our daily professional lives to meet the
needs of sick, hurting and needy folk both in our personal and professional
lives
-
To apply Biblical principles to the professional, moral and ethical issues
of today and act as a prophetic voice within the professions and our society
-
To nurture communities for prayer, mutual support and encouragement at
a local and national level
Prophetic
Calling
We live in the confusion of a post-modern culture in which the Christian
principles of our society are increasingly side-lined. The culture affects
the structures in which we work, and presents us with ever more complex
moral and ethical issues like assisted reproduction, abortion, euthanasia,
drugs, alcohol, and AIDS.
Humanistic trends and occult influences need to be challenged by the
Word of God with a bold prophetic voice. Our own lifestyle as a prophetic
people has to be a key part of our witness. In God's name we point to the
hope that the Cross of Jesus Christ brings to the fear of death all around
us. We work to see the concept of care for the whole person be both accepted
and activated on Christian principles.
Pastoral
Calling
Working in caring professions as prophetic people brings its own challenges,
threats and stresses.
-
We aim to nurture non-residential communities of committed and enduring
support for one another through local and regional groups, and particularly
by encouraging small groups of three or four to worship and intercede together
-
We recognise the part we can play as caring professionals in and alongside
the pastoral caring of our local church fellowships
-
We encourage the growth of our listening and caring gifts as they are practised
with one another and all those we meet
Practical
Action
-
Area prayer groups
-
Occasional conferences
-
Monthly newsletter and prayer diary
-
A central office - a place of communication
-

Statement
of Faith
Within CiCP we believe:
-
The Bible is the only infallible, authoritative Word of God
-
There is one God eternally existent in Three persons - Father, Son and
Holy Spirit
-
Our Lord Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. We believe in His virgin
birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His death on our behalf, His bodily
resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal
return in power and glory
-
We were wonderfully created in God's image. As a result of Adam's fall,
we are basically sinful, and need God's mercy through the redemption Jesus
brought by His death on the cross. Repentance towards God and faith in
our Lord Jesus Christ are necessary for salvation.
-
The ministry of the Holy Spirit regenerates, sanctifies, fills and equips
the believer with demonstrations of power freely given for service.
-
All believers have a unity in the Lord Jesus Christ, and the visible manifestation
of this is in the local body, the Church.
